A PROBE IS ALWAYS ORDERED TO SQUASH THE BURNING ISSUES: WILL THE DROUGHT-HIT FARMERS SELLING WIVES TO SURVIVE REALLY GET JUSTICE, GOVERNMENT RELIEF AND HONORABLE LIVING? (7th Sept 2009)
Television news channels should open their eyes and do more such reality-based stories rather than follow Bachchan and family visiting Siddhivinayak early morning at 4 am and telecasting the same all-day long… It is indeed surprising that even after CNN-IBN unearthed the deadly plight of poor drought-hit farmers selling their wives to live just another day… none of the other channels (Aajtak – Sabse Tej…. Is it really TEJ or just sleeping still?; NDTV – busy only promoting extinct political leaders’ career once again and debate all-day long on trivial issues which has really no importance in everyday life; INDIA TV – Rajat Sharma is busy only highlighting sensational sex based crimes and craps;….) has bothered to go in-depth to unearth the real picture of rural India… Why such real issues are neglected by our news channels?
All these channels will go running or at times flying to cover a small girl falling in a tiny well and telecast it live for 24-hours again and again… to show how much they care… It is indeed a shame that today the news channels have become so commercial without a conscience… However, I must really appreciate the courage and concern of CNN-IBN crew, who went all the way to Bundelkhand to unearth such a pathetic plight of INDIAN FARMERS… Today is the second day of the telecast but will the channel follow it up till the poor farmers get justice and proper aid from our government… one will have to see in coming days, as I will follow this issue more vigorously…
A probe has been set-up by the NCW (National Commission for Women) and as per Girija Vyas, they will get the report in mere 48-hours (one will surely have to wait whether these announcements are mere announcements or some real actions are taken by her and the PM of the nation)… Not even 24 hours have gone by since the last telecast the BLAME-GAME is already on as NCW’s Chairman Girija Vyas says, “It is a pity that such a thing is happening in a State where the CM is a woman.” On the other hand, one can presume that the respective authorities in Uttar Pradesh are trying to squash the issue by threatening the farmers, who opened the lid of their reality… Why Mayawati has so far not come forward to say anything regarding such a serious issue of her state?
How far will the CNN-IBN go to continue this crusade in coming days? It is evident that in a week’s time, the government’s probe will be closed in a file and stored in some dark corner of the dusty files’ division as there will be bigger news-breaking stories… as we have witnessed since our Independence how things move in this country… There are chances that the channel heads will be immediately summoned by the ruling government top honchos to keep quiet after a few days (ultimately it will happen as we all know how influential and corrupt these politicians are?) A probe is often immediately ordered after the incidents are highlighted by media… but these probes are just to show how the government squashes such issues, which only become closed chapters of a Government’s Book of Incompetence! Why the PM of the nation is not coming forward to issue statement in such a dire-strait situation of the nation… when he can immediately try to pacify the Ambani brothers over a gas issue??? Is Manmohan Singh only the PM of the rich industrialists???
There are various questions that the ruling government has to answer regarding this grave situation of our countrymen… while they don’t hesitate to talk endlessly about economic growth in five-star hotel conferences… why are they shutting their eyes from the real picture of India???
1). Why no drought-relief has been given in remote villages to poor affected farmers so far? Why has the government allowed such a situation to arise in the first place when the PM announced that – “No one will go hungry in the country because of drought?” This situation is much worse than hunger??
2). Is the PM, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, CM of UP Mayawati, Agriculture Minister, Home Minister still sleeping and waiting for hundred of farmers to die before they release the drought-relief in their own respective accounts in Swiss Banks???
3). While Mayawati is busy building her own statues in crores by sucking the blood of poor farmers… what is she doing in this case?
4). Why the Central Government is not acting fast to overcome and save the drought-hit farmers from their plight?
5). Agriculture Minister is very busy minting more crores for BCCI and does not bother about country’s farmers’ plight??? Sharad Pawar is not at all fit to continue as the Agriculture Minister because he has failed towards his duties and responsibilities… When will Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh wake up from their sleep?
